Cats in Fantasy: Harry Potter

The Harry Potter series by J.K Rowling mentions many cats.

Crookshanks

Crookshanks is Hermione's half Kneazle cat. Crookshanks is a large cat, who Ron has a grudge against for always trying to attack his rat, Scabbers. Scabbers was actually evil Death Eater Peter Pettigrew in his animagus form, and Crookshanks was only trying to help the side of good.

Minerva McGonagall

Minerva McGonagall is the professor of Transfiguration at Hogwarts. She is an animagus, and can transform into a cat at will.

Mrs. Figg's Cats

Mrs. Figg is an elderly witch who pretends to be a muggle. She has many cats, which she always talks about. When Harry Potter has to say with her since the Dursleys are away at Dudley's birthday party, she bores him due to talking nonstop about her cats. After almost breaking her neck from tripping over one of her cats, she seems less fond of them.

Mrs. Norris

Mrs. Norris' owner is the cruel Prof. Filch, who delights in the misery of the Hogwarts students. Mrs. Norris stalks around corridors, and always alerts Filch when students are somewhere they should not be...
